Trailer Trash: March 30 of 2012

I wasn't able to espouse my enthusiasm for last week's release of  The Hunger Games, because I was out of town rubbing elbows with celebrities at a local convention. Nevertheless you can trust that The Hunger Games is at the top of my viewing list for this weekend. I hope Ms. Lawrence isn't too upset that I wasn't able to enjoy her latest film as soon as it opened.

While I fully expect The Hunger Games to continue it's #1 reign at the box office this weekend, it does have a couple of films arriving to give it some competition. Here they are, such that they are.

Mirror Mirror Like all films directed by Tarsem Singh this looks beautiful, but is it just me or are the trailers are giving off a weird, off-kilter vibe. Maybe in context of the Singh's vision it will work splendidly. I for one, won't be finding out anytime soon. I'll put this down for an afternoon when I've got absolutely nothing better to do.

Verdict: It's Friday, I Don't Want to be Alone.

Wrath of the Titans Did I love Clash so much that I was begging for this sequel? No.
Does Wrath's trailers make me think it will be astoundingly better than the first?
No.
Am I starved for action to the point that any fast-paced, bloodfest will do?
Absolutely!
Bring on the Titans!

Verdict: Moist With Antici...Pation!

I'm almost ashamed to admit this, but I, the Reel Whore, have not been out to the movies in over a month! I do fully intend to decimate that streak this weekend, so theaters, consider yourself warned!

MMM: Alright. Alright, Alright, Alright...

If you've seen this video, you know why I've chosen to feature it. If you haven't seen it, I'm going to stop blabbling so you can. Enjoy.

MMM: The Screams All Sound the Same

No, the post title doesn't refer to last night's Season 2 finale of Walking Dead, but wasn't that the shit! All I've got to say is it's about gorram time that my girl showed up!  Still pissed off about Dale, but this helps.

With this week's selection, I feel like I'm the last to discover this group. I know I shouldn't feel this way considering this song was only just released in December, but that was four whole months ago! At any rate, they are now on my radar so I'll be looking forward to watching their rise to fame.

Trailer Trash: March 16 of 2012

The new releases of the past couple of weeks have been so pitiful I couldn't even be bothered to post about them. However, today's latest offering was one I could not ignore. Shall we?

21 Jump Street At first, I was super excited by a 21 Jump Street film. Then I saw the trailer for whatever THIS is. No thank you. Not even Nick "Ron Swanson" Offerman can amp me up to see this. Ice Cube as the Captain, really? Steven Williams should be pissed! Maybe if I'd seen Peter DeLuise in the trailers I'd be more excited. The hype machine is saying this is the best thing since sliced bread so I'll inevitably watch this, but you can bet it won't be until I have fast-forward and stop at my disposal.

Verdict:  Exercise the Right to Cinematic Celibacy.

Well, that's all we've got this weekend. Will Ferrell's Casa de Mi Padre got a limited release today, but who knows if it will ever see the light of day in my area. Same goes for Ed Helms' Jeff, Who Lives At Home. I hope you have access to either of those. I hate for anyone to settle for 21 Jump Street because there are no other options.

MMM: Ready For The Test Yo?

Here's a joint that's guaranteed to get your blood pumping this morning! Granted, this South African hip hip group may not be everyone's cup of tea, but this is my new joint. Enjoy!

MMM: Isn't Everything Wonderful Now?

The local rock station came out of the blue this morning with a blast from the not-so-distant past. I can't say for certain, but I recall this song being annoying as hell back in 2000 when it was playing everywhere I went. Guess it's true what they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Then again, maybe I always did like it. I've listened to a lot of music between then and now and sometimes it's hard to keep it all straight. Either way, today it stuck with me.
