Today's session is going to be short and sweet, stargazers. I've spent way too much time at my PC this week and my clicky-finger feels like it is about to break off. Even now I am trying to type minus a digit and it no goes so well. But you're here to discuss this week's new releases, not my ailments . IMDb has a bullwad of films opening this week, but only two really matter in the scheme of things and they are...
Cars 2 Pixar's black sheep, Cars was better than I expected, but seeing the trailer for Cars 2, I can't imagine a sequel being much worse. McQueen and Mater as international secret agents? Not one, but two, scenes of bathroom humor just in the trailer? Carl's rolling over in his grave and Woody & Company are wishing they'd stayed in the incinerator right about now.
Verdict: Exercise the Right to Cinematic Celibacy.
Bad Teacher Examining the poster, it appears Cameron Diaz is having a freak-nasty affair with a student. The trailer proves my perverted mind wrong, however, because she's nothing more than a bitter pill looking for a free ride. The only thing about this by-the-numbers plot that is inspired is the inclusion of Phyllis "Phyllis Vance" Smith. For her, I'd give this a chance at the cheap theater.
Verdict: It's Friday, I Don't Want to be Alone.
This is going to be a great weekend to catch up on some more cultured flicks (Midnight in Paris, here I come). If you venture out to either of these, best of luck to you!

I think I might have a gander at Bad Teacher. It's either that or The Tree of Life...couldn't be much more different, eh? Will all depend on my mood, and my tired brain will likely go for the cheap laffs.
ReplyDeleteYeah, opposite ends of the spectrum with those choices. I opted for Midnight in Paris like I mentioned and was pleased.
