Trailer Trash: The June 10th Quickie

Going into this weekend, I'm somewhat behind on my summer fare. I need to see X-Men: First Class which is apparently the bee's knees. I'll be the judge of that. While I play catch up, the rest of you may be interested in the two major releases IMDb has opening today.

Super 8  Yay, it's here! I have been waiting for months for all these mysterious, mindfuck trailers to end. By my standards, less is more with trailers, but the gimmicky feel of these has nearly soured my excitement for the film. Abrams wants to be the next Spielberg so bad it hurts, I just hope the secretive plot of his latest project isn't too painful to watch.

Verdict: Moist With Antici...Pation!

Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer  This is SO not marketed to me. The trailer is one spastic, sugar-fueled flurry of children running circles around their red-haired heroine. I hoped Heather Graham's appearance might pique my interest, but sadly she doesn't have a level of hold over me like Carla Gugino does. If you've got rowdy children or enjoy sitting in a theater full of them, by all means, take my seat.

Verdict:  Exercise the Right to Cinematic Celibacy.

Hobo with a Shotgun is playing in my area this weekend, so Super 8 will have to wait a week while a catch some 'quality' cinema. Those who follow my posts over at the MILF, know I can't deny Rutger Hauer his props.

  1. A and Men.

Can't wait to hear what you thing about Super 8 when you get to it. Methinks it just might bug you, given what you've said here. And yea, Abrams is trying really hard (though, hey, props for having good taste and at least 60% succeeding).

  2. The plan is to check out Super 8 this weekend. I saw X-Men over the weekend and it was pretty fun. I have a few nitpicks, but one of the more enjoyable summer flicks I've seen so far.
