Trailer Trash: The June 3rd Quickie

Good morning, stargazers. Seems like every Monday I begin with the intention of posting new reviews, but every Friday I've only had time to get to the Trailer Trash. This week is different. For those that don't know, I'm now an official MILF contributor! It's not what you think. MILF, or Man I Love Films if you're not into the whole brevity thing, is the cinematic lovechild of Dylan and Kai, or something like that. Their baby is growing pretty fast, so if you don't stop and look at it, you might just miss it. Naturally, a good place to start is with my Tuesday Vault review of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

FYI, Lock, Stock was produced by Matthew Vaughn who just so happens to be the director and co-writer of this weekend's only major release. As usual, you can check IMDb if you don't believe me. Now let's take a look at June's first big  opener.

X-Men: First Class  Or as I like to refer to it, X-Men Origins: Mystique is the fifth installment of the X-Men franchise. It's actually about the origins of Xavier's school, but the commercials seem more intent to push Jennifer Lawrence's blond haired/blue-skinned sex appeal and who can blame them? The remaining clips make it seem rather blah and after Vaughn's lackluster Kick-Ass adaptation, I'm hesitant to open my wallet.

Verdict:  It's Friday, I Don't Want to be Alone.

Luckily for me, I'm off to HeroesCon to rub elbows with other comic fiends where I'm sure we'll be chatting about this and the other summer superhero fare. Catch you on the flipside.

  1. Good call on the naming of this. Though, I don't know about your 'blah' prediction - reviews seem to be fairly strong.

I can't think of a much better MILFer than the RW.

  2. Thanks. I'm honored to be a part of the family.

I've heard good things, and I'm not going to let my low expectations hold me back. I'm already planning to see X-Men this weekend.

Then again, I heard good things about Bridesmaids despite thinking it looked painful. And that was pretty pathetic by comedy standards. Exactly why has it made a $100m?

  3. "Exactly why has it made a $100m?"

Girl power. And just the fact that it wasn't terrible, possibly. Even awful Heigl flicks make money, and Bridesmaids, while not a riot, was light years better than those.
