Monday Mood Music (09.22.08)

As I began my trek to work today, my radio blared the last few bars of the perfect song for today's post. I tried to think of a good tune to get folks' blood pumping all weekend, but sometimes it's best to go with the flow.

This song, albeit overplayed this month, is by one of my favorite bands. If you've been to more than two weddings, then you've heard it. Heck, it was played at ours which coincidentally will be exactly two years tomorrow. As I scratch my head over what to get my wife for our anniversary, let's all enjoy the energetic Earth, Wind and Fire in a psychedelic ol' school video of September.

I've seen EWF in concert a few times and they have always given an exhilarating performance, though they've toned their outfits down over the years. Watching bass guitarist Verdine White dance all around the stage is my favorite part of their show.

  1. Believe or not, the soundtrack to Babel got me into EWF. I love September!

  2. I had forgot about September being in Babel! It's not the song you'd expect to find in that type of film.

  3. Congrats on the two years!

Shame on you both for allowing such terrible music to be played at your wedding. I'm guessing "celebrate good times, c'mon!" was also overheard, no?

For our wedding reception, I ixnayed the DJ and played the role myself, making three mix CDs (with Mrs. Fletch's help, of course) that included everything from Sinatra to Nine Inch Nails to Alice in Chains to Tori Amos to Dave Brubeck. I should sell the damn thing, it was so good. Plus, we get to say we played NIN at our wedding (I think it was "Down in it" so it couldn't have been wildly offensive).

  4. We had a DJ, but I made mix CDs of all our favorite artists we had seen in concert as our guests' favors. Huge hit, especially since the CD was packaged to look like a Krispy Kreme donut.

I can't say we had any NIN playing, but the DJ was under strict orders to refuse certain requests (cough* Sheryl Crow*cough).

    EWF is awesome!
